1. About the Space Climate Symposia Series
The Space Climate Symposia bring together the world’s leading experts to deepen our understanding of long-term solar variability and its influence on planetary environments. The series focuses on, for example:
- Exploring the origins and consequences of long-term solar variability, especially the solar magnetic dynamo and its manifestations on the time scale of a solar cycle and beyond.
- Studying the influence of solar variability on near-Earth space, the atmosphere, and climate.
- Improving the long-term datasets (sunspot numbers, cosmogenic isotopes, geomagnetic indices) that underpin space climate research.

Symposium dates are traditionally scheduled near equinoxes or solstices.
The Space Climate community strongly supports:

We welcome teams who share these values and incorporate them into their plan for hosting the symposium.
2. What the LOC Is Responsible For
The Local Organising Committee is expected to:
- Manage the overall budget, including securing sponsorship and ensuring a financially balanced event.
- Provide the venue (lecture rooms, poster areas, working spaces) and manage all technical requirements.
- Oversee the conference website, communication with participants, and integration of all organisational information.
- Manage abstract submission, communication with conveners, and coordination with the Space Climate Scientific Committee.
- Organise participant registration, payment handling, badges and on-site materials.
- Arrange catering, the welcome reception, coffee breaks, and the conference dinner.
- Assist with local logistics (accommodation, transport information, side-meeting rooms, etc.).
The scientific programme itself is assembled by the Space Climate Scientific Committee, but the LOC chair participates in committee meetings during the planning year.
3. Evaluation Criteria
Proposals will be evaluated based on:
Venue
- Capacity for ~100–120 participants
- Rooms suitable for plenary and poster sessions
- AV support, strong internet infrastructure
Location
- Accessibility for international participants
- Availability of nearby accommodation
- Reasonable travel and accommodation costs
- Environmental considerations
Team and Experience
- Demonstrated organisational capacity
- Experience with conferences
- Ability to manage finances, registration, and communication
- Technical skills (web management, IT support)
Financial Plan
- Balanced budget
- Transparent registration fees
- Expected sponsorships
- Accommodation cost estimates
4. Proposal Requirements
Final proposals must include one document (PDF or DOCX) max 3 pages:
- Names, affiliations, and email addresses of key personnel
- Proposed host country and city (or options)
- Description of team and responsibilities
- Proposed dates
- Venue details (rooms, layout)
- Budget plan (expected costs, sponsorships, registration fees)
- Accommodation and travel information
- Local logistics (transport, meals, accessibility)
- Hotel blocks and potential discounts
- Any planned cultural or outreach activities
- Preliminary risk assessment and mitigation measures
The Proposal Document may include tables, diagrams, venue layouts, and photos.
5. Timeline
- Proposal submission deadline: 15 Aug 2026.
- Discussion and negotiation with selected team: Summer 2026.
- Announcement of Space Climate 11 LOC: 23 September 2026
